Chili Pepper - Hand Painted Art Tile
$45.95Living in Arizona for over a decade we used to travel to Santa Fe New, Mexico during Fall – the harvest season for their magnificent red chili peppers. They have five foot long “ristras” of these large red chili pods hanging down under their adobe- arched doorways. So we took some home and they became the basis for this vibrant red “Chili” tile design.

Japanese Sandhill Cranes - Hand Painted Art Tile
$45.95I was so enthralled watching a video of this elegant bird’s mating dance in the snow that I was inspired to create this crane design. Because the Sandhill cranes mate for life the Japanese consider them a symbol of eternal love and their wedding kimonos incorporate crane designs into their satin brocade silks. The Japanese character on the tile is the symbol for “love” so I like to give these as wedding or anniversary gifts. I found out Sandhill Cranes also live in the USA and I was able to visit a crane reserve in my area and see them up close and personal. These birds are typically 5 foot tall with a red forehead and black legs. When they migrate in the Fall you can hear their “trilling” sounds but can barely see them as they are flying @ 10,000 feet catching the “thermals” so they don’t have to flap their 5-8 foot wingspans very often. They are truly a magnificent bird.

Garlic - Hand Painted Art Tile
$45.95The truth be that we were trying to get accepted into the famous Garlic Festival in California and so I did a garlic design to increase our chances of getting into the show with our tiles. I couldn’t find a suitable picture of a garlic clove so I used one fresh one right out of my kitchen and it is amazing all the nuances of color that I found on that one little clove. $45.95I think that leaves are intricately beautiful with all their delicate webbing and lovely colors. We have a small Maple Tree in front of our shop and I looked at it closely and saw the bean-like seed pods hanging from it which I had really never noticed before. After many color schemes I was able to portray the multi layers of colors that exist simultaneously on one leaf when it begins to “turn” multi-color in the Fall. The Japanese characters on the tile say “Japanese Maple” as these trees are very much revered in Japan.
